Archie Browns Penzance is looking for a confident, capable and motivated Front of House Café Assistant to join our small but dedicated team.
This is a fast-paced and demanding role, best suited to someone with previous hospitality experience who enjoys a busy service environment and takes pride in delivering consistently excellent customer experiences.
With exciting plans to expand our opening hours (including earlier openings for breakfast and additional days), this role offers genuine opportunity for growth, both within the café and through additional shop hours during the week. We also have increased hours available due to an upcoming maternity leave.

​  the role

You’ll be working front of house in a community-focused café where calm, efficiency, warmth and attention to detail are essential. You’ll need to learn systems quickly, juggle multiple priorities, and remain positive, professional and welcoming throughout service.

Key responsibilities include:

• Running the till confidently, including cash handling and accurate order taking

• Preparing and serving food and drinks to a high standard

• Making consistently high-quality coffee using an espresso machine

• Providing friendly, attentive table service

• Maintaining a clean, organised and welcoming café environment

• Keeping the café well stocked and service running smoothly

• Supporting the kitchen team when required​

about you

​This role will suit someone who is reliable, proactive and driven, with a genuine passion for hospitality and customer care.

You will ideally have:

• Previous café or hospitality experience (barista skills including machine dialling)

• The ability to stay calm, focused and friendly during busy services

• Excellent communication skills and a natural ability to build rapport with customers

• A strong sense of responsibility and pride in your work

• A team-focused mindset with openness to learning and supporting others

• A professional approach to timekeeping, presentation and service

• An interest in health, wellbeing and sustainability

• Long-term aspirations for personal and professional development

 

Availability on Fridays and Saturdays is essential.
There is potential for additional weekday hours to cover the shop, maternity leave and as the café grows.
